The “So Much Fun” rapper told Mr. West that he would be on the album or they would never speak.
Young Thug is one of the most confident rap artists rap has to offer and ahead of his next album PUNK, due for release this Friday, October 15, the 30-year-old sat down with Complex to talk about everything , since Lil Baby even the president of the United States.
Arguably, the most moving point Thugger made, however, came during a tangent about Kanye West and the duo’s collaboration in Donda’s “Remote Control”. When asked if West tried to point him in the direction of the gospel to keep the album’s theme, as he did with some of the artists who worked on the record, Jeffrey made it clear that he will always do exactly what he wants.
“You can’t instruct me… You can’t instruct me, and I’m saying this humbly. I understand music. I understand life. I understand everything,” said the Slime Season rapper. “I understand the way the universe works, so you don’t need to talk to me about certain shit. I feel like Kanye West and Jay-Z, Fucking Quincy Jones and James Brown, and if Michael Jackson and Prince were here… They would understand that about me. They would trust me. ”
That kind of trust is important, and after rumors that his contributions to “Remote Control” were close to being cut from Donda, Thugger went straight to the source and warned of the consequences.
“What people don’t know about Kanye West is that he’s a real idiot. He’s a billionaire and all this shit is cool, but in real life, he could survive in the trenches. If he goes into the trenches, into the jungle, he might survive. He’s a real madman,” he said of the 44-year-old Chicago rapper. Despite praising West, however, Thug let Yeezy know what would happen if he was cut off from Donda. “I just called Kanye and said, ‘Bro, if I’m not on the record, don’t ever talk to me again.’
