Sally Carrera from the movie Cars comes to life and will be auctioned

Among the most iconic movie cars in history are certainly those of Cars. The film produced by Pixar Animation Studios has thrilled adults and children alike, and one of the most beloved characters is Sally Carrerathe “flame” of Lightning McQueen.

Thanks to the collaboration between Porsche and Pixar, Sally has become a true unique piece and will be auctioned on August 20 at RM Sotheby’s‘s in Monterey.

How the “real” Sally Carrera came to be

The project started in November 2021 and brought together members of the Cars team who made the film and the character of Sally Carrera (who, let’s recall, was based on a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera). They were joined by teams from Sonderwunsch (a division of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur) in Stuttgart, Style Porsche in Weissach and Porsche Cars North America.

After 10 months of gestation, here is a truly unique 911. Based on the 480 horsepower 911 Carrera GTS and equipped with a 7-speed manual transmission, the car stands out with the unique color Sally Blue Metallic created especially for this unique piece. The design of the Turbo alloy wheels (20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear) has also been revised to adapt to the new look of the car. The tribal sticker placed under the spoiler is also not missing.

The interior echoes the blue exterior, with the seats featuring a uniquely textured fabric. Leather detailing and Speed Blue stitching are also present, along with numerous references to the movie Cars and Sally Carrera.

An auction with noble objectives

Along with the 911 Sally Special, several custom items inspired by the car will be offered for auction by RM Sotheby’s. Among them, a watch created in collaboration between Porsche and Pixar with decorations in titanium and Sally Blue Metallic, with the lettering 001/001 and a bracelet available in two colors.

Those whose bids are accepted at the August 20 auction will also receive a second set of “Carrera Exclusive Design” wheels designed for track use, a custom cover prepared by Porsche Tequipment, the original clay models made during the design phase of the car and a book tracing the birth of this special Porsche, with drawings by the designers of the German brand and Pixar, Suichi Yamashita and Bob Pauley.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Girls Inc. and UNHCR. The first association operates in 76 locations in the United States and Canada and strives to provide education and support to girls in economic and social difficulty. The latter, on the other hand, is following the Ukrainian crisis closely, providing assistance to the 6.2 million refugees, many of them women and children.
