Model promises up to 11x faster response in games; see how OmniPoint 2.0 technology works
This Tuesday (21), the peripheral manufacturer SteelSeries announced the launch of the Apex Pro Mini, your new keyboard model. Designed for maximum gaming performance, it utilizes a 60% layout and brings OmniPoint 2.0 linear and adjustable switcheswhich allow you to precisely define the actuation point and response time of each keystroke.
The Apex Pro Mini is available in wired or wireless versions. THE Wireless version can connect to PC either via Bluetooth 5.0 or via 2.4GHz connection, dubbed Quantum 2.0. SteelSeries’ promise is “zero lag” when using this last option, being the most suitable for games.
THE Wireless version has a battery life of 30 hours (40 in Bluetooth mode). Both come with an embedded 32-bit ARM processor and have a USB-C connection and individually customizable, per-key RGB lighting. Check out all the details below:
OmniPoint 2.0: the secret of the new switches
While traditional mechanical switches use physical contact to register every keystroke, new Apex Pro Mini OmniPoint 2.0 switches utilize purely magnetic sensorswhich can record not only the key press, but also the distance traveled by the key.

The manufacturer claims that the switches recognize up to 37 distinct activation pointswhich can be adjusted by the user to record commands between 0.2mm and 3.8mm in depth (maximum travel distance), in 0.1mm increments.
That way, everyone can customize the keyboard to reach their perfect balance between strength, triggering speed, margin of error for keystrokes and response time for each command within the games.
According to SteelSeries, when set to the shortest possible actuation distance, the OmniPoint 2.0 switches present in the Apex Pro Mini can provide a up to 11x faster response time plus up to 10x faster actuation. OmniPoint 2.0 switches are linear and have estimated lifespan of 100 million activations.

One key, two commands!
Thanks to the operation of OmniPoint 2.0 switches, each key on the Apex Pro Mini can be configured to activate up to two different commandsaccording to how much the user presses it.
One of the examples cited by SteelSeries was a game setting, where the character can walk with a light touch or automatically run when the key passes a certain point of its course. The brand claims that the limit for technology is in the creativity of each user.
Despite using the 60% layout (an extremely compact form factor with fewer keys), the Apex Mini promises to deliver most of the functionality of a full-size keyboard, through secondary keys and auxiliary commands printed on the sides of each keycap.
However, it should be noted that this format suppresses the entire portion of the numeric keys, as well as the directional arrows and the line of function keys. Despite being great for those who want to play, as it frees up space on the table, the change usually requires some adaptation time on the part of buyers.
price and availability
The series keyboards Apex Pro Mini are now available for sale on the official website of SteelSeries. The Apex pro Mini Wireles costs $239.99, while the wired version starts at $179.99. Keyboards can be purchased in US English, French, German, Japanese, Nordic and UK English.
The sad news is that the SteelSeries still does not ship its products to Brazil, therefore it will be necessary to import by third parties or wait for availability in other international store chains. It is worth remembering that brands like Razer have a similar proposal, such as the Huntsman Mini Analog keyboard, also with adjustable keys.
