The 13th edition of the Governors Awards will be held on November 19, 2022 in Los Angeles (USA). There, Fox will receive a special award recognizing the humanitarian contributions of leading figures in the world of cinema. In addition to participating in titles such as “Back to the Future”, “The Secret of My Success”, “Casualties of War”, “Doc Hollywood” and “The Good Wife”, the actor opened a foundation in 2000 to investigate the causes and treatment of Parkinson’s that has become the main entity of the subject.
“Michael J. Fox’s tireless advocacy for Parkinson’s disease research coupled with his boundless optimism exemplifies the impact of one person changing the future of millions,” said David Rubin, the president of the institution that organizes the Oscar. For their part, the other three honorary Oscars will go to a composer, a director and a filmmaker.
Australian Peter Weir is responsible for cinema classics such as “Dead Poets Society”, “The Truman Show”“The Mosquito Coast” and “The Year of Living Dangerously”.
