Not powerful enough: Thiem says Wimbledon

Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, is on the agenda. The lawn classic will take place without the Austrian Dominic Thiem.

The Austrian Dominic Thiem will not start at Wimbledon this year. The 2020 US Open champion doesn’t feel strong enough for the grass classic, which starts on June 27th.

Thiem (28) made his comeback at the end of March after a complicated wrist injury, but has since lost all seven games. Most recently, he was eliminated in the first round at the French Open in Paris.

After that he had put in a training block on sand in his home country. Thiem, who has meanwhile slipped to number 352 in the tennis world rankings, now wants to return to the tour in July at the clay court tournament in Baastad.
