Lewis Hamilton will turn 38 on January 7, but he has no plans to hang up his helmet yet. In fact, the Englishman once again reiterated the (inseparable) bond that binds him to Mercedes, swearing to her eternal love, with which he will continue his professional adventure both on and off the track. The seven-time world champion has also admitted that he has never felt so fit before, continuing to aim for the eighth world champion in the near future.
“I feel fitter than ever – said Hamilton, quoted by Formula1.com – I love what I’m doing and I’m not going to stop anytime soon – My goal has always been to stay in Mercedes. I like the long partnership we have. I feel like we are engaging in a lot of really positive things, not just in the sport but also outside. I think there is a lot of work to be done together. I think I will always be with Mercedes until the end of my days. I feel I can run a little longer“.
Hamilton then added: “Eighth title? It is certainly a challenge. It’s about winning another world championship. The feeling of winning the world championship is so unique and special. The idea that no driver in history has ever surpassed seven titles is something you want to accomplish. But I guess, as you get older, you realize that the journey is the most important part with all the people you take with you and try to improve. There is an opportunity to improve many people, not just in your team, but with the work we are doing, with Mission 44 there is a much bigger picture. But from a personal point of view, winning another world title continues to be a goal. I would be so proud to be able to do it for this team“.
