The Brazilian Giulia Takahashi finished third in the women’s doubles dispute of the under-19 tournament of the WTT Youth Star Contender, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Alongside the Romanian Luciana Mitrofan, she lost to the Indians Suhana Saini and Yashaswini Ghorpade by 3 sets to 0 (7/11, 8/11 and 8/11), this Thursday (24).

To guarantee the place on the podium, Giulia Takahashi and Mitrofan had won two matches the day before, against the Spanish Eugenia Sastre / Silvia Coll and the Spanish Ainhoa ​​Cristobal and the Romanian Ioana Singeorzan. They advanced to the semifinals and sought to reach the final, but were stopped in the good game of the Indians.

This was the best result for Brazil in the women’s tournaments of the WTT Youth Star Contender in Vila Nova Gaia. For the individual, Karina Shiray lost all three games in the sub-15, as well as Laura Watanabe in the sub-19. Giulia Takahashi won a game at under-19 level but did not advance. Watanabe and Shiray still participated in the doubles, but did not advance.

This tournament was preparatory for the Table Tennis World Youth Championship, which will take place in Tunis, Tunisia, from December 4th to 11th.
