Future Piastri, Szafnauer reiterates: “It will have a seat in 2023”

Interviewed by the media during the last Canadian Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship, Otmar Szafnauer reiterated his confidence in Oscar Piastri, specifying how the management of the transalpine team is doing everything and more to give to its own pilot an officer seat for the 2023 season.

Precisely in this sense, Szafnauer preferred not to dwell too much on the rumors regarding a possible agreement with Williams, highlighting how the transalpine brand will make a final decision on the matter only when it has clear ideas on the growth path to be followed by the “driver ” Australian.

“For Oscar we have some options on the table, so there’s no need to rush”, stated the Alpine Team Principal. “However, I must say that as a team we have left all doors open. We will take the right time and make the decisions that we most believe are right for his future ”.

“As for the rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, however, as a team we are not talking about the contacts our drivers have with other teams,” he continued. “This is something we have never done and will continue not to do. The only thing I can say is that as Alpine we are doing our utmost to entrust Oscar with a seat starting from the 2023 season. Let’s talk about a crystalline talent that Formula 1 deserves. We’ll see ”.
