Aston Martin finished the 2022 Formula 1 world championship in seventh position. The Silverstone-based team scored a total of 55 points over the course of the season, the same as Alfa Romeo, but the Hinwil-based team remained ahead due to the best race results. A regret, also because in Abu Dhabi it would have been enough to make a logical strategy with Vettel, really on fire in his last career to secure even one more point which would have been worth an additional prize pool of around 12 million. However, the team thanks everyone for their efforts in this exhausting 2022, first and foremost obviously Sebastian Vettel.
“We’ll miss him – Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack said. On behalf of the whole team I want to pay tribute to Seb: he is one of the all-time best in our sport, his four world championships and 53 Grand Prix wins confirm this, he has been a brilliant driver even in these two years with us. Despite Lance’s good race in Abu Dhabi we were unable to snatch sixth constructor’s place from Alfa Romeo, having finished on equal points. I thank all our staff, they have worked hard throughout the season, and we are determined to do better next year ”.
