Impossible to pass by without seeing them. This Friday, November 25, at 8 a.m., hundreds of “bloody” shoes were placed on the stairs of Place Louis-Pradel, right next to the Opera and the Hôtel de Ville de Lyon.

“These shoes were installed between the police station, the opera and the town hall in order to challenge passers-by, public authorities and the police. Today, we are not up to the situationwhether in terms of sheltering women victims of violence, their reception or their support”, denounces the association.

“We are asking for more resources”

Since 2019, the same action has been organized every year in Lyon. The first two years, the shoes had been placed on the stairs of the courthouse, in the 5th arrondissement. Since 2021, Place Louis-Pradel has been chosen to continue the fight.

“We claim more means for the fight against violence, for prevention and a real dignified and correct welcome for women who are victims of it, whether they come from France or elsewhere. »

In the continuity of this action, Saturday November 26 at 2 p.m., a demonstration against sexist and sexual violence will be held at Place Bellecour.
