In Pommeréval, Caravelles offers you to cook local and inexpensive products

It is at the rural hearth of Pommerevalclose to Bellencombre (Seine Maritime) at the crossroads of Country of Braythat the team of Caravelles social center sets up every week to make two new recipes.

When we came, there was on the menu: lentil sausages and an apple and pear crumble.

Prioritize local and seasonal products

The purpose of this workshop is to cook with products that we have at home.

“For the recipe of the day, we went to get the sausages and bacon bits from the Hermesnil farm in Grigneusevillegreen lentils with Gentilhommière orchards in Osmoy-Saint-Valery and apples and pears at the Petit Maraicher in Beaumont-le-Hereng “.

A process with multiple benefits. Indeed, “this makes it possible to prioritize local production, to highlight local producers, who are not necessarily known to everyone, but also to show that consuming local and seasonal products is not more expensive than making races in a large area, ”underlines the host.

And through the workshop, we prove that cooking is possible, even with little equipment and little time. And above all, it’s better for your health.

At an affordable rate

Once a month, the prepared dish and dessert are offered for sale at affordable prices.

“For example, for €4 today, people who ordered will get a slice of lentil sausage and crumble. For the beneficiaries of the solidarity grocery store, we go to 2 €. Prices that show that it is possible to eat well, while having fun with local and seasonal products,” explains Chloë.

Each prepared recipe remains simple. And we also integrate products that come from the solidarity grocery store.

And the latter is successful since eight participants come every week to make new recipes. When we came, no less than 50 portions of the dish and 40 of the dessert were ordered.

Practical: If you are tempted to take part in this workshop, the appointment is fixed every Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pommeréval rural centre.
