Another murder was also reported in Cauca, specifically in El Bordo, which is also under investigation.

The defense minister recalled the capture of six FARC dissidents in Arauca, including Alexander Lozada Ramírez, known as alias Monocuco, accused of being the leader of the armed group.

The authorities installed a Unified Command Post (PMU) to guarantee security during voting day.

Finally, the Minister of Defense stated that the Democracy Plan is still in place to ensure calm for the rest of election day. “We call on Colombians to go out and vote freely, because security conditions are guaranteed throughout the country.”

He also invited citizens not to fall prey to misinformation on social networks, but to search the media and official channels for all the information they need during election day.

Abroad, 40 countries have already closed their polling stations for the Colombian presidential elections.
