The Cuban government authorized the registration of the tourist agency Cubatur S.A. to act as representative of the Spanish Travel El Corte Ingles SA in the national territory.
Registration took place at National Registry of Foreign Commercial Representations, attached to the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba. The approval was reflected in the Official Gazette No. 63 from June 17, 2022.
Travel The English Court is a Spanish company, leader in the tourist travel sector and specialized in vacation and corporate travel, as well as in the organization of events and congresses.
Cubatur has 50 years of creation. It is one of the most important travel agencies in the country. They have offices in all tourist destinations on the island and have more than 1,000 employees.
Works with national and international tourism. Its main source markets in the world to Cuba are Canada, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Argentina, Mexico and Eastern Europe.
Viajes El Corte Inglés joins the portfolio of tour operators with which the Cuban agency collaborates, which, as indicated in its official Web is more than 100.
Cubatur has various products among which the own “tour operator representation“. In addition, they offer assistance in ports, airports and hotels; specialized tour guides, transfers, reservation of plane tickets, car rental, tourist circuits, lodging, excursions, among others.
The government of Miguel Díaz-Canel bets on the tourism in Cuba to overcome the current economic, political and social crisis that the country is experiencing. It maintains large investments in the hotel constructionin the midst of the harsh shortages suffered by the people.
Cuba currently has 77,809 hotel rooms. 44.5% of them are five-star, 29.6% four-star, 13.6% three-star and 12% of another classification. The Gaviota Group, owned by the Revolutionary Armed Forces, controls 48% of the hotel facilities in the country.
These policies to promote tourism on the island have been criticized by the Cuban population, who do not see a favorable effect after the investments, but rather a continuous impoverishment and a sharpening of social differences.
