A new synopsis of The Batman further confirms the darkness of Gotham that Robert Pattison’s Dark Knight will have to face.
After the nagging and galore galore of Ben Affleck’s seasoned Batman, the resourcefulness, novice missteps, and rookie rage should come to the fore for the Dark Knight a bit. It is in any case what on what The Batman has focused its promotion to sell the dream to its fans. And what better to accompany all this than to describe the setting of his film as a synonym for “cut-throat”.
Gotham City being a city rotten to the core by its criminality, the universe set up by the director Matt Reeves intends to play it to make the new bearer of Batarang, Robert Pattinson, go crazy. We already had a first general synopsis on the intentions of the film, but a new description this time plants the dark and violent setting of Gotham The Batman.
Gotham will return it
This new synopsis, very broad, covers as much the pre-film career of this Batman as the trigger of his adventure in the darkest districts of the city of which he has the day before:
« Two years of roaming the streets as Batman and instilling fear in criminals has led Bruce Wayne to the heart of the darkness of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies, like Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner James Gordon, amid the city’s corrupt network of prominent officials and personalities, the Lone Vigilant stands as the sole embodiment of vengeance among his people. fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of enigmatic clues sets the world’s greatest sleuth on an investigation into the underworld, where he meets characters like Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Carmine Falcone and Edward Nashton aka The Mystery Man. As the evidence accumulates and the evildoer’s plan becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and restore justice amid the abuse of power and corruption that has plagued Gotham City for too long. »
Bruce Wayne will never be able to drink a coffee serenely again
So we learn some information with this synopsis. Already, this Batman has only two years of career in the paws (we will say that it is a “free adaptation” of Batman: Year One, even if we suspected it already). He has hardly any friends or reliable contacts, unlike previous versions of the character, who did not hesitate to use his identity of the eccentric rich billionaire to make things easier. Here, it’s 100% bat-berserk, with Alfred as a co-pilot and Gordon as an informant.
The second part obviously shows the plethora of thugs that Batman will have to chain. If we already knew that they would be in the movie, the way the synopsis presents them does not specify if some of these characters could be part of the “new relationships to be forged” in Batman. We suspect that Catwoman could quickly become an ally, but perhaps the situation will be so desperate that it will lead to other alliances of circumstances, with more assumed villains? This is perhaps a little hidden surprise from the film.
“So, are we not there, between (cobble) mates ?!”
In any case, if we still had to convince someone of Matt Reeves’ intention to make his Batman an investigative film, in a filthy setting full of underworld, it’s done. It remains to be seen if all of these characters can be treated to live up to their mythology, and not just signposts to climax. The Batman will be in French theaters on March 2, 2022.
