MTV VMA 2021: See the complete list of winners

The winners of the MTV VMA 2021 were announced on Sunday, with a broadcast hosted by Doja Cat that saw the ceremony returning to New York City.

When the nominees were first announced in August, Justin Bieber topped the 2021 class with nine nominations in total. Megan Thee Stallion , BTS e Giveon followed closely, with seven nominations each. Also coming into Sunday night with several nominations each were Drake, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa and – marking a historic debut – Doja Cat.

In addition to the main categories, this year’s ceremony also features the Foo Fighters receiving the first US Global Icon Award. The Global Icon Award stems from MTV’s Europe Music Awards festivities, with winners from previous EMAs, including Eminem e Whitney Houston.

This year’s ceremony – which also features performances by Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X com Jack Harlow, Kacey Musgraves, Machine Gun Kelly with Travis Barker and more – follows a 2020 iteration that more than made the most of pandemic conditions. Keke Palmer presented that year’s uniquely created viewing experience, which included a memorable BTS performance and a medley version of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for the song “Rain on Me.”
