The Health Secretary reported this Wednesday 420 new deaths from COVID-19 for a total of 283,193 deaths, in addition to others 6,320 new cases to reach 3 million 738 thousand 749 infections.
With these figures, Mexico remains the fourth country with the most deaths from COVID-19, behind the United States, Brazil and India, and the 15th in number of confirmed infections, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
The health authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the pandemic would be around 410 thousand deaths in the country and estimate that Mexico actually accumulates three million 956 thousand 652 infections.
Of the total official figure, 40,403 are active cases, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and that account for 1%; Furthermore, since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,098,588 people have been recovered.
The average occupancy for general beds is 28% and 24% for intensive therapy beds.
The authorities also indicated that the vaccination program, which includes all those over 18 years of age, accumulates 108.95 million doses applied by adding one million 025 thousand 505 during the last day.
So far, 67.3 million people over the age of 18 have at least one dose; that is, 75% of the total adult population. Of that total, 73% —49.59 million— have received the complete scheme.
