Metallica: Create a “water” shaped like Lars Ulrich

A toilet designed in the 1980s likeness of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has caused an internet sensation.

And the creator behind this “water” is none other than Prince Midnight, the metal musician and provocateur from Florida who previously went viral when he made a guitar out of a skeleton that he claimed belonged to his dead uncle.

The WC Lars Ulrich is just the latest physical art from Midnight, performing offbeat gothic metal and black metal with vibraphone and producing a variety of unusual artwork. He released a self-titled EP of his music last year, but the Lars Ulrich toilet is part of Hellmouth Plumbing Supply, a boutique bathroom designer and artistic concern that started with toilet covers featuring classic heavy metal album cover images.

Lars Ulrich, el «water»

Prince Midnight told Loudwire on the curious’ throne ‘:’ Make no mistake, I am not the one attacking Lars. This is my way, albeit unconventional, of honoring Lars Ulrich and Metallica. I could have painted a picture or made a traditional sculpture, but no one would have noticed, and really, that’s not the kind of art and acting that I do. The first band I loved was Metallica, the first record I became obsessed with, the first music I immersed myself in, the first concert I ever attended. “

He made the toilet ornamentation using “a ton of natural clay from the art store to sculpt the body and legs,” he explains. «I used alginate to mold and mold my own hands and feet in resin. I saved the facial sculpting for last, using photos of Lars from the ’80s. Then, like the hands and feet, I made a mold and cast it in resin. I passed steel bars through the entire assembly with fiberglass wadding. My backyard has essentially been an auto body shop for the past few months. ‘

Midnight adds that “some might find the concept of making this toilet absurd, or even be offended by the notion that it is presented as a work of art, but this is how all creatives are treated when exploring new creative spaces. ».

Midnight maintains that the Lars Ulrich toilet is installed and fully functional. He says he will move it “for public use” to the Brass Mug music venue in Tampa, Florida, on December 3 as part of what he calls an “art exhibit that will take place in the bathroom during the show.
