Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ misses its box office goal in its first weekend in theaters

The most recent Pixar production that takes up the original story behind the action toy that we love so much. toy storyseems not only to have generated controversy around its plot, but also has not managed to reach its goal set at the box office in its first weekend.

Lightyear‘, directed by Angus McLanehad a budget of $200,000,000.00 dollars for its production and distribution, but only raised a total of $51,000,000.00 on its first weekend.

Just like HB reports, this is low because if we take into account that films tend to sell more in their first days due to the hype generated by the release, not having reached the goal could mean that ‘Lightyear‘ it’s just not going to ‘take off’.

The goal was to reach $70,000,000.00 dollars in the first weekend, but failed to discover that, in fact, the theme LGBT which touches on the film in very subtle ways, has caused a major backlash among conservative groups who refuse to allow children to see the film.

At the moment, it seems that the project is already available on the platform of Disney+ and it only remains that time allows a project as nice and well done as this one, to separate itself from the bad communication that conservative groups have made to it.

To infinity and beyond! Check out the trailer here:

In other news, in Saudi ArabiaLightyear‘ has been officially canceled and pulled from billboards.
