The rumor that Kit Harington could be getting his own spin-off series as Jon Snow has now been confirmed by Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin. He also explained Harington’s special commitment.

Anyone who thought HBO would have to lure actor Kit Harington back with a truckload of cash to even consider a Game of Thrones spin-off is clearly mistaken. Indeed, as George RR Martin revealed, it was Harington himself who suggested: “It was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal the names of the authors/showrunners just yet because it hasn’t been released yet. But Kit picked them himself too, his own team, and they’re great.

Martin, the father of the franchise, confirmed recent rumors in his blog post that a sequel to the parent series is in the works, with Harington returning as Jon Snow. The fantasy writer also leaked the working title of the project: “Snow“.

Former Daenerys actress Emilia Clarke also confirmed it in an interview with the BBC. Harington would have told her about it. “I know it’s true It’s going to happen… Kit created it from what I understand, so he’s involved from the start. So what we’re seeing – hopefully – is certified by Kit Harington‘ said Clarke.

What’s the matter?

The story of the potential series would, as said, be set after the events of “game of Thronesstart. Jon Snow, whose real name is Aegon Targaryen, was banished back to the Night’s Watch after his regicide in King’s Landing. There, together with Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), he leads the wildlings back to their now safe homeland. Anyway, that was the last scene of the whole series.

So the offshoot could revolve around Jon’s adventures north of the wall, accompanied by his direwolf Ghost. The danger of the white walkers was actually eliminated there. Strictly speaking, he is not allowed to visit his family in Winterfell. But maybe Arya (Maisie Williams) will drop in on him herself…
