A restored version of The Godfather in theaters this winter

Paramount Pictures will mark this winter the 50e anniversary of the cult film by Francis Ford Coppola with a limited release in AMC theaters, starting February 25. The three films of Godfather have been restored under the direction of the American director and will also be available in 4K Ultra HD format from March 22.

“I am very proud of the Godfather, [une trilogie] that’s definitely defined the first third of my creative life, ”Francis Ford Coppola said when Paramount Pictures broke the news.

Originally released on March 24, 1972, the first film in the trilogy The Godfather, which narrated the reign of the Corleone mafia family, won three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Marlon Brando.

The restoration of all three films began three years ago, with over 300 film cases having been examined to find the best resolution for each scene.
