The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti together with his pair of Tourism and Sports, Matias Lammens, traveled to Mar del Plata, to visit testing and vaccination centers against the SARS-CoV-2 virus ready to accompany the summer season safely.

The official toured the National Institute of Epidemiology “Dr. Juan Jara ”, which has new equipment for genomic sequencing. He also visited the Superior School of Medicine of the University of Mar del Plata and the balneario Mute, on the southern beaches of the city, where a vaccination post operates.

Within the framework of the operation Detect Summer, Vizzotti’s journey began with a visit to the San Bernardo testing center located on Avenida Costanera and Hernandarias, and then continued with a visit to a Villa Gesell vaccination center.

“We need to strengthen care and vaccination so that the number of cases is as low as possible”Vizzotti assured, adding that “we are making great progress with vaccination, we have 85 percent of our population with one dose, 74 with two doses,” which means that the health system is not in tension despite the number of cases. “We have to sustain the care to move forward with this situation”, the minister concluded.

In this sense, it is important to remember that in order to make vaccination against COVID-19 more accessible during the months of January and February, the Federal Health Council (COFESA) in the first week of the year agreed that people can apply the dose that they require outside of their place of residence, where they are vacationing.

Thanks to vaccination, important economic activities such as tourism can be sustained, since according to Lammens: “In the latest employment indicators, hotels and gastronomy are the two items that are growing the most, almost two points per month ”.

The minister added that “it is a strategic sector for the development of the national economy, which generates a large number of jobs, which is practically 10 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, and which has also been able to sustain demand at such a time complex”.

In the afternoon, Minister Vizzotti traveled to the city of Mar del Plata, to visit the National Institute of Epidemiology “Dr. Juan Jara ”, which has new equipment for genomic sequencing.
