Carla Vizzotti, Minister of Health of the Nation, highlighted on Sunday the progress of vaccination in children and adolescents and He trusted that “before the end of the year all people over 3 years of age in Argentina” could “have started and completed their scheme.”
The official stressed that in the country almost 90% of the elderly have received at least the first dose against the coronavirus and more than 65 already have the two applications, so that in many provinces there is already free access to inoculants.
“We are working so that during October the vast majority of adolescents have started the scheme and so that within 28 days they can complete it, so it will advance quickly,” he explained, in dialogue with Radio 10.
In this regard, the head of the health portfolio specified that “the same will happen with boys and girls”, since the State has “a stock of vaccines” available to them, but clarified that first they will call “those prioritized , with risk factors ”.
Currently, the only inoculant that has received approval from the ANMAT for pediatric use is that of Chinese laboratory Sinopharm, which was authorized by the agency for children between 3 and 11 years old.
The Government decided to grant this authorization taking into account the results of phase 1 and 2 clinical trials carried out in children in China and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the experience of Chile where the formula of another company is applied, but which has the same platform.
Vizzotti herself recently confirmed that this vaccine will begin to be applied as of October 12 in children under 11 years of age, with priority in those who have a risk factor. “We expect to advance strongly so that before the end of the year all people over 3 years of age in Argentina have the possibility of having started and completed their scheme,” he detailed this Sunday.
