“Get vaccinated, get vaccinated”. The call to receive the serum against Covid is not launched by an epidemiologist accustomed to TV shows but by the Mayor Ps of Cergy (Val-d’Oise), Jean-Paul Jeandon.
During his last Facebook live, the elected official urged the Cergyssois to be vaccinated against the Covid.
A young population
And for good reason: on the front of prophylactic coverage, Cergy is lagging behind. And not just a little.
“According to Ars, we are only 65% of people vaccinated while the national average is over 75%. We are ten points behind, we must continue to be vaccinated and to respect barrier gestures. “
What are the reasons for this relative mistrust of vaccination? Difficult to say. The mayor of Cergy puts forward an explanation. “My analysis is that we have a young population, 50% of Cergyssois are under 30, they were the last to be eligible for vaccination. “
A line of thought that does not rule out the Ars (Regional Health Agency) of Val-d’Oise, without going further.
“We don’t really have an explanation,” says Laureen Welschbillig, director of the health structure. But beyond Cergy, it is the Val-d’Oise which is behind with a vaccination rate of 70.5% against 76.9% in France (Cpam figures for two injections on January 2, editor’s note). However, we have a sufficient offer, we can find a vaccination window during the day, we have set up ephemeral operations … No doubt that many people contract the Covid and go out of the eligibility period, it extends their pass sanitary for a few months. Today, one infection is equal to one less injection. “
Proof that the Cergyssois keep a certain distance from vaccination, the center installed in Carreau, the largest in the department, is not running at full speed. “It is far from being at its maximum injection capacity (8,500 per week, editor’s note),” reports Laureen Welschbillig.
