On the penultimate day of the current transfer period, FC St. Pauli signed another new signing: 18-year-old central defender Marcel Beifus is moving from VfL Wolfsburg to Millerntor.
Leaves Wolfsburg to take the next step in Hamburg: Marcel Beifus.
With the commitment of defensive talent Beifus, FC St. Pauli is preparing for the future. “He received very good football training in Wolfsburg and we trust him to develop behind our more experienced defenders at FC St. Pauli,” said sports director Andreas Bornemann on Monday evening. Head coach Timo Schultz added: “Marcel has everything to assert himself in professional football with us. We are convinced that he will take this step with us.”
Beifus went through all of the youth teams at VfL Wolfsburg. Most recently he was in the second representation of the wolves, seven appearances in the Regionalliga Nord with one hit and one assist each. The central defender played two games each for the German U-19 and U-17 youth teams.
“FC St. Pauli is an ambitious second division and a good address for young players, so the decision to switch was an easy one for me,” said Beifus, looking forward to the next step in his career. “Now I want to find my way around here as quickly as possible, get to know my teammates and then of course the fans and the atmosphere at Millerntor – preferably on the pitch, of course.”
