He is moving to VfL Wolfsburg with immediate effect: Dodi Lukebakio (right, with Jerome Roussillon).
“The option for this change opened up at short notice and makes sense for both sides. We wish Dodi all the best for his personal and sporting future”, Hertha’s managing director Sport Fredi Bobic is quoted as saying.
Lukebakio came to the capital from Watford FC in the summer of 2019 and has since made 67 competitive games for the old lady (16 goals). In the current season, the Belgian was used in all three league games for Hertha (kicker grade average 4.00). Curious: On matchday two, he scored his only goal of the season so far in the home game against VfL Wolfsburg.
“We are very pleased that Dodi has decided to work with us to tackle the challenges that await us this season,” explains Wolfsburg’s sports director Marcel Schäfer: “We are convinced that he can help us with his qualities, to achieve our goals. ”
“Absolute dream” with the premier class
Lukebakio is also looking forward to his new job in Lower Saxony. “VfL Wolfsburg is a big team in Germany and impressed me with their team spirit last season and last time they played at Hertha,” said the left-footer: “I think I fit into the team very well and my abilities here I am very excited about the club and can hardly wait to play for VfL. And of course it is an absolute dream for me to be able to play in the Champions League with VfL. ”
