In the heat of the match between the Imperatriz and 4 de Julio teams for the Brazilian Soccer Serie D it ended up being chaos, due to the collapse of one of the stadium’s grandstands, meters away from the players.
“The Imperatriz Sports Society has announced that the match against the team on July 4 was stopped due to a strong wind, which unfortunately shook the structure of our Fray Epifânio, causing the collapse of part of the roof,” explained from the club of the city of Imperatriz, in the state of Maranhão, northeast of Brazil.
The collapse occurred 30 minutes after the start of the meeting and as there was no public, there were no injuries.
In any case, Civil Defense and Firefighters personnel intervened to prevent a second collapse and prohibited to continue playing under these conditions. And since the game was stopped “for a natural cause” the referee suspended it until further notice.
