During a Federal Police operation in San Antonio Oeste, a Correo Argentino truck that was used to transport vaccines against the coronavirus was detained. In the cabin they found 19 kilos of marijuana and detained the driver.
As reported by the Federal Police, the discovery occurred on Tuesday night on the RN 3, at the height of San Antonio Oeste, a few kilometers from the popular Las Grutas spa. During the check, with the help of a drug sniffing dog, officers found a cardboard box that contained rectangular packages, says the report adding the following: “which prompted a more rigorous review in the presence of witnesses, seizing a total of 19 packages.”
After conducting a “narcotest” test, which yielded a positive result for marijuana, the weigh-in was performed. In total, the packages contained 19 kilograms of narcotic drugs.
In the case that was initiated, the Federal Court of Viedma intervenes, in charge (subrogated) of Ezequiel Andreani, Secretary of Dr. Estévez, who ordered the kidnapping of the drug found, and the “incommunicado” detention of the driver.
From Correo Argentino they affirmed that the truck in question (which has vaccine transport inscriptions) It was used long ago to distribute doses of the national immunization campaign against Covid, although he is not currently assigned to that operation.
“At the time, when the arrival of vaccines was very fluid, the number of trucks with registration was expanded. But now they also make common general cargo trips and that unit did not transport vaccines“, they explained from the company as published by Clarion.
The truck was heading north-south, that is, from Buenos Aires to a province in Patagonia. The Puerto Madryn Police collaborated in the operation.
