A young intern at the General Hospital “Dr. Salvador Chavarría Sánchez” was found dead in the TRIAGE area of COVID-19; it is presumed that he decided to end his existence, as he was carrying a syringe with fentanyl.
The discovery of the body was made around 01:00 hours this Friday, September 10, precisely in the work area of the young doctor, a situation that generated a strong mobilization of security corporations in the aforementioned hospital.
The deceased person was identified as Hugo Eduardo Benavides Carrasco, who was 30 years old and currently working at the General Hospital; as revealed by his co-workers, he was working in the TRIAGE area that is located in the parking lot of the emergency area and he was alone.
Derived from the first inquiries, it was established that the body of the doctor was located lying on the floor and carrying a syringe with fentanyl, for which it is presumed that he died of an overdose of said drug, which is much stronger than morphine.
Elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Coahuila in Northern Region I attended the place, who became aware of the death and began with the corresponding proceedings and they talked with the staff on duty.
The Expert Services personnel also arrived to take evidence of the place and later ordered the removal of the body and its transfer to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), to perform a legal autopsy and determine the specific cause of death.
