They ask for an anticovid vaccine for homeless people

The Center for Psychological Services for the Community (Cesepco) requested through a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) that the indigent can be vaccinated, since some do not even have official identification from the INE and much less access to the web to register.

At a press conference, José de Jesús Gutiérrez Rodríguez, general coordinator of the Cesepco of the College of Professionals of Psychology of the State of Jalisco, reported that two months ago he sent a letter to the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Health of Mexico raising the issue of vaccination of homeless people. They answered them with several points that were included in the vaccination strategy, the criteria for vaccinating them were blank, so they issued a complaint to the CNDH.

“In the email the criteria were blank, it was clear to me that they did not contemplate that. Consulting with colleagues and who work with homeless people, some have been vaccinated but those who are in a shelter, in Jalisco those who are in the existential unit for the indigent, some have been vaccinated, but those who are on the street, That is why yesterday we filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission requesting that the Federal Government, particularly the Ministry of Health, be recommended a specific protocol and the implementation of vaccines for people living on the streets, in addition to precautionary measures. to guarantee the scheme ”, commented the coordinator.

The CNDH immediately responded to the complaint with the acknowledgment of receipt and will make the recommendation in the next few days to the Mexican Ministry of Health.

Another complaint issued by the Center for Community Psychological Services to the CNDH was for older adults living on the streets to receive the pension granted by the Ministry of Welfare.

“The criteria to obtain the pension do not consider the elderly in a homeless situation, because the INE, birth certificate, proof of address are needed, the question is whether they are Mexican and elderly, the constitution from the first constitutional article It says that we are all equal before the law and discrimination is not accepted, therefore they have the right to a universal pension and consequently the Ministry of Welfare had to implement a specific procedure for homeless people that it is important to have that support ” Gutiérrez highlighted.

The Society of Graduates of the Bachelor of Psychology of the University of Guadalajara AC, headed by its president Ana Laura Telles Martínez, invited seniors to the VIII Citizen Congress of Older Adults to be held virtually on Thursday 30 September, Friday 01 and Saturday 02 October from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. via zoom, they invite young people to help connect older adults, register on the phones 333 342 0261 and 333 342 0262, also at email [email protected]
