Among them are some such as automation, the cloud, applied artificial intelligence or green technologies
The consultant McKinsey & Company released a list of technology trends that will mark the next 10 years, and predicted that it will advance more than in the last 100 years.
First, the company highlighted the automation and virtualization of processes. By 2025, more than 50 trillion devices will be connected to the industry’s Internet of Things. Robots and 3D printing will generate about 79.4 zettabytes of data per year, said the World Economic Forum, which mentioned this list.
The second position was for the improvement of the connectivity. Faster digital connections – powered by fifth generation technology (5G) and the Internet of Things, have the potential to unlock economic activity.
McKinsey claimed that implementing them in sectors such as mobility, healthcare, manufacturing or retail could increase global GDP from $ 1.2 trillion to 2 trillion dollars by 2030.
Third place went to the cloud computing. The consultancy estimated that by 2022, 70% of companies will use cloud-related platforms as part of a distributed information technology infrastructure.
According to the authors of this classification, this trend will help companies increase their speed and agility, reduce complexity, save costs and strengthen their cybersecurity defenses.
The fourth will be next generation computing, which will help find answers to the problems “that have plagued science and society for years” and “unlock unprecedented capabilities for business,” according to McKinsey & Company.

The impact of artificial intelligence
In this category you will find a number of powerful developments ranging from quantum artificial intelligence even autonomous vehicles. However, they specify that this trend will not affect all companies in the same way.
In fifth position is the applied artificial intelligence. Although experts note that this technology is still in its early days, as it develops, it can be applied to more tools. The firm estimates that by 2024 artificial intelligence will be behind more than 50% of interactions between companies and computers.
Another of the technological trends for the next decade will be programming, “we must prepare for software 2.0”, which will allow the expansion and dissemination of applications based on data and driven by artificial intelligence.
In seventh place is the trusted architecture, which will help in the fight against cyber criminals. According to the consultancy, this trend reduces the risk of infections, as well as the expenses associated with cybersecurity, and allows more profitable transactions.
The biological revolution It is another advance to take into account, as it will have a significant impact “on economies and on our lives” and will affect a multitude of industries, from health to agriculture.
Graphene has multiple uses.
In ninth position are the next generation materials, including graphene, which have “the potential to transform multiple market sectors”, including pharmaceuticals, energy or semiconductors.
Finally, clean technologies appear, that is, those based on renewable energies, which reduce costs. “Its advance promises an abundant supply of green energy to sustain exponential technological growth,” said the consultancy.
