The Senate of the Nation was the victim of a computer attack

The Senate of the Nation suffered an attack by hackers on Wednesday morning. “So far it has been possible to recover most of the relevant information and isolate sensitive equipment,” the Chamber published this Friday through its official Twitter account.

The Senate posted this Friday a succession of tweets about the event: “The Senate of the Nation suffered an attack by hackers on January 12 at 4 AM. These types of attacks, called ransomware, have been perpetrated in recent months against various public bodies, the Judiciary and front-line companies.

“The pirates hijack the information and then demand a ransom for it. In the case of the Senate of the Nation, all the stolen information is public and is available to everyone within our transparency site,” the Twitter thread continued.

“Since the moment of the attack, our Information Security team has been working. So far, it has been possible to recover most of the relevant information and isolate the sensitive equipment, which will allow us to recover operations as soon as possible”, concluded the series of posts.

The website of the Senate of the Nation was down from the moment the attack occurred, blocked and with the slogan: “Sorry for the inconvenience, the site is under maintenance.”
