The Mercedes-AMG One trains for its record attempt

The Mercedes-AMG One is a hypercar reserved for a lucky few. It has been presented for years as a rolling concept – the Project One – without being delivered to its owners. The Affalterbach engineers encountered several problems during the development of the hypercar, they were perhaps too optimistic, because the integration of a Formula 1 engine in a production car is not easy.

In this year 2022, the development of the Mercedes-AMG One is coming to an end and deliveries will be able to begin. But the brand has another battle to fight, that of beating the record on the Nordschleife, in Germany.

The current record for road-legal car is currently held by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS prepared by Manthey Racing. The supercar recorded a time of 6’40″3 minutes over the 20.6 km circuit. It is ahead of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and its time of 6’43″62 minutes.

Mercedes-AMG will try to steal the show from the Porsche with its One, and a priori, the 1063 hp supercar has all the attributes to achieve this. This car is equipped with a 574 hp 1.6-liter V6 capable of growling up to 11,000 rpm. It is associated not with one, but four electric motors. The first is placed at the crankshaft, the second near the turbo, and the remaining two on the rear axle.

If the look is not unanimous, the hyper sport announces performance of madness. The 0 to 100 km/h would be dispatched in just 2.9 seconds, the 0 to 200 km/h in 7.0 seconds and the 0 to 300 km/h in 15.6 seconds. As for the maximum speed, it is 352 km/h.

This Mercedes-AMG is therefore quite capable of dethroning the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR. She trains while waiting for the big day to arrive.
