Lewis Hamilton has repeatedly said he doesn’t like driving on the open road, but he made an exception to the rule in Japan. In a video posted on his Instagram account, the Formula 1 driver filmed himself driving a Nissan GT-R R34 through the streets of Tokyo.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion did not spare the Japanese sportswoman. We see him exploiting the GT-R as it should with drifts and donuts on a road that does not seem closed to traffic. This did not fail to react to its community as well as a good number of Internet users on social networks.
Besides, this Nissan GT-R doesn’t belong to him, and he didn’t even borrow it from a friend. It is simply a rental car, rented from the company omoshirorentacar. The rental company does not approve of Lewis Hamilton’s driving. She was obviously not aware that her GT-R was going to be used in this way and published a message in story to condemn her behavior: “We prohibit this type of conduct. It is a horrible act done without our permission”.
Lewis Hamilton had fun as a child, but the car he drove was in agony. White smoke was coming from his transmission through the gear lever, and that’s not a good sign. Hamilton will likely be held to account by the rental company.
For your information, this Nissan GT-R is powered by the 2.6 liter RB26 engine. It develops 280 hp for 397 Nm and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission. It seems to please Hamilton very much, who knows, he may be able to afford it to complete his already well-stocked car collection.
