On January 8, Xavier, a student at the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR), had his tuba stolen, 10 rue Baldner in Strasbourg.

The same day, he posted a call for help on Facebook to try to find the perpetrator, to no avail so far.

A flight in 10 minutes flat

“The theft took place […] between 6:50 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. […]. I left my double bass tuba for a very short time in my car parked in front of my house […]. These 10 minutes were enough to break the window of my car and leave with my musical instrument, ”he says in his message posted on social networks.

« [Sur le moment], I did not understand what was happening to me. I panicked. My first reaction was to walk around the neighborhood to see if I saw anyone walking around with my snorkel on their back,” says Xavier, reached by telephone.

A very special snorkel

“The first thing I said to myself was, ‘What is the thief going to do with it? “, says, still incredulous, the young man of 23 years.

“It was a very special model of tuba, which I had built for myself,” laments the man who is also a music teacher and member of a brass quintet.

“Stealing a musician’s instrument is like stealing his soul”

“The musician expresses himself through his musical instrument: stealing it is like stealing his soul,” adds Xavier, who filed a complaint.

If you witnessed the facts or saw the musical instrument in question, you can reach Xavier on 06 36 90 04 11.
