STEP 2021: the operation began to move the ballot boxes across the country

The deployment of more than 100,000 urns throughout the country began by the Official Post of the Argentine Republic, within the framework of the open, simultaneous and mandatory primaries (STEP) that will take place tomorrow throughout the country.

This is a total of 101,457 urns throughout the national territory, which will be distributed along with the rest of the electoral material and the necessary sanitary kits so that more than 34 million Argentines can participate tomorrow, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., of the elective day.

Last night, in the city of Buenos Aires, the electoral judge Maria Servini -Accompanied by members of the electoral board- enabled the transfer of the ballot boxes and began the loading process in the trucks of Correo Argentino to begin with the deployment to the different voting points.

Mules, horses and boats will also be used to transport them to reach the most remote places in the country.

The operation includes a 12-hour mule ride to reach the most remote polling place in the country, located in the El Durazno area of ​​Jujuy.

A similar operation will take place in Calamuchita, Córdoba, where the voting station with the fewest voters in the country is located.

In each of the operations, a Mail worker is in charge of protecting the ballot boxes together with members of the security forces, and for this they spent the night in the electoral establishment until the beginning of the electoral day on the day of morning.

According to the stipulated deadlines, the delivery of all the ballot boxes will end in the last hours of today.

Regarding the security of the ballot box and the election, more than 90,000 members of the Armed Forces and the security forces will be assigned to the device to guarantee the development of the PASO.

As reported by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a statement, the personnel affected by the device will be organized under the orders of Major General Martín Deimundo Escobal, appointed as head of the General Electoral Command (CGE).

He will be in charge of personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force, for security in the 24 districts of the country, together with members of the National Gendarmerie, the Naval Prefecture, the Federal Police, the Airport Security Police and the Provincial Police. .
