São José beats Liga Sorocabana and wins 1st in Paulista basketball


São José won its first victory in the Paulista Men’s Basketball Championship this Saturday (06). Playing away from home, the team defeated Liga Sorocabana by 80 to 69, with 24 points from pivot Douglas Nunes.

Coming off a setback against Bauru Basket in the first round, São José arrived at the duel against Liga Sorocabana willing to change its scenario at Paulista. The team was behind the score only in the first two minutes of the game and then took over the game. Still in the first period, the team came to open ten points of advantage (26 to 16) and opened even more in the second partial.

São José had 43 to 26, but Liga Sorocabana reacted and cut the difference to nine at the end of the period. In the second half, the home team started better and cut the difference to six (57 to 51), but the last period was dominated by São José, which closed at 80 to 69.
