The last two rounds of the season, held in Imola and Miami, have smiled at the REd Bull who, thanks to the double success achieved with Max Verstappen, has significantly shortened the gap from Ferrari both in the constructors ‘and drivers’ championship. In fact, the Anglo-Austrian car seems to have put the arrow on the F1-75, even if the TP Chris Horner prefers not to overbalance, underlining how RB18 must continue to improve its performance. To do this, as admitted by the English manager himself, some updates are planned.
“You have seen in Imola how quickly things can change and I think there will be some interesting races – said Horner, quoted by Formula1.com – The car is fine. We have some developments coming, hopefully in the summer, that will help. We need to save some weight. It can be improved anywhere. We have to improve in the slow corners, we have to lose a couple of kilos on the car; the temperature of the tire is therefore the result of the weight, it is all those small incremental gains that you always chase“.
Horner, then, discussing the issue concerning the reliability that has created many problems for Red Bull this season, added: “I don’t think the car is particularly fragile, I just think there were negative things that you normally saw in pre-season testing that made you shake your head. It is frustrating, but we are working closely with Honda and they are giving us great support and we will solve these things“.
