Nicolas Sessler is out of the top 100 on stage 2 of the Tour of Slovenia

After one Promising start on the Volta of Slovenia, the Brazilian Nicolas Sessler was out of the top-100 in the second stage of the cycling competition, held this Thursday (16). He finished in 103rd place on the 174km course between Ptuj and Rogaska Slatina, 10:56 behind the winner, Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen, who clocked 4:12:51.

Nicolas Sessler had been the 62nd in the first round of the Tour of Slovenia. He even strayed with the front pack, but lost pace towards the end. Still, he ended the first day as the best athlete on his team, Global 6 Cycling.

This Thursday, the Brazilian was in the 103rd place of the dispute, being the third best athlete of his team. His teammates, the Finnish Ukko Peltonen and the British Xeno Young, were grouped in the chasing pack until the end of the race, finishing 44th and 46th, respectively.

Dylan Groenewegen, from Team BikeExchange-Jayco, was the winner of this second stage of the Tour of Slovenia, clocking 4h12min51s. Belgian Lionel Taminiaux, from Alpecin-Fenix, was in second place, while German Pascal Ackermann, from UAE Team Emirates, finished in third place. More than 25 athletes reached the finish line together.

With the 103rd place this Thursday, Nicolas Sessler dropped to 96th place in the general classification of the Tour of Slovenia, with 24min14s behind the leader, which remains the Polish Rafal Majka, from UAE Team Emirates, winner of the first stage. He has 08h14min51s accumulated.
