“My intention is to try to play Wimbledon if there is any possibility. This week of training here told me that there might be a possibility,” Nadal said during a press conference in Palma de Mallorca.

The Spaniard said he was satisfied with the new treatment for his foot problem: “I’ve been without a limp for a week. I’m happy. I suffered a little in my daily life, with pains different from those I felt, which for me is a step forward”.

After the title at Roland Garros, Nadal began a treatment of “pulsed radiofrequency”, which makes the nerves that affect the region of the foot injury go numb.

The tennis player has suffered for years from Müller-Weiss syndrome, a degenerative and incurable disease that is characterized by the deformation of one of the bones in the foot.

In the same interview, the Spaniard confirmed that he will be a father for the first time, after rumors in the press about the pregnancy of his wife, Mery Perelló.

“I’m going to be a father. I don’t usually talk about my personal life because I think I’m already quite exposed in my professional life”, said the tennis player.

Nadal preferred not to prolong the subject, recalling that he and his family prefer the “tranquility” of living in a “discreet” way: “I don’t know how life changes, but I hope it doesn’t change my professional life”.
