McLaren has no plans to introduce major updates on the current MCL36. The Woking team is certainly disappointing expectations this year, given that it has not made that leap in quality hoped for with the new regulation. The team occupies the fourth position in the Constructors’ standings, a position that should now be the goal of the season. After a really complicated start, with the car with continuous braking problems, McLaren recovered, also finding the podium at Imola.
However, team principal Andreas Seidl explained that it is not the team’s intention to bring developments to the car in the next races, as the current package still has potential that needs to be unlocked.
“The main objective of the team at the moment is to extract the full potential of the current package – Seidl’s words to The Race – We believe we can still unlock a lot of performance from the MCL36. There will be only minor changes to the car over the course of the season. We must consider that with the cap budget the working time must be limited and we must know how to spend it at best “.
