SC Magdeburg showed the right reaction to the lost top game in the Bundesliga against THW Kiel: The reigning German champions won 41:36 (22:17) against Porto in the Champions League.
He gave the right answer with the SCM: Omar Ingi Magnusson.
SC Magdeburg has won the fourth victory in seven games in the Champions League. On Thursday evening they managed a 41:36 (22:17) against Portugal’s champion FC Porto. The best Magdeburg shooter was the Icelandic right-winger Omar Ingi Magnusson with eleven goals, left winger Matthias Musche scored just one goal less. SCM are third in Group A, four points behind leaders Veszprem of Hungary, who in turn beat Zagreb 32-28 at home on Thursday.
Magdeburg started highly concentrated in defence, was consistent in the end and quickly led 4:1. Porto didn’t find their way into the game and the SCM continued to lead to 12:5. Although the guests shortened a little, the clear superiority of the Elbestadt team hardly changed until the break.
After that, the Portuguese had their best phase up to that point and shortened to 20:23 because the SCM in front was now lacking in consistency. However, Magdeburg got back on track and at 29:23 was again six goals ahead. Porto repeatedly brought Magdeburg back into the tempo game through their own mistakes and thus to victory.
