The brothers Hussein Daruich, 14, and Hanna Daruich, 18, competed this Saturday (14) in the mixed teams event of the Olympic trench at the Junior World Cup of Shooting in Suhl, Germany. With 129 points added, the duo finished in 16th place and did not advance to the medal fight.
Bronze Medalist in Individual Competition, Hussein was the best performer, hitting 67 out of 75 possible targets. He hit 24 in the first round, 21 in the second and 22 in the third. Hanna, in turn, scored 52 points, 18 in the first, 23 in the second and 21 in the third.
Only the top six of the qualifiers advanced to the medal contest. The last ranked duo was Thomas Betts/Madeleine Purser, from Great Britain, who had 134 points. The gold went to Italians Riccardo Mirabile and Sofia Littame, who beat Juho Maekelae/Sara Nummela, from Finland, in the final.
With the mixed teams dispute over, Brazil ended its participation in the Olympic pit in the Jr. of sport shooting. The country won a bronze in the men’s singles, with Hussein Daruich, while it was seventh in the men’s teams, with Hussein, Haddy Gomes and Igor Mera.
