Liverpool FC has won its second title this season with the FA Cup, even the quadruple is still there. Whether Mohamed Salah can help with that remains to be seen.
He could laugh again: Mohamed Salah after his injury – and with himself (or Thiago Alcantara).
Liverpool had to do without attacker Salah after just over half an hour in the final against Chelsea. The Egyptian sat sadly on the ground in the center circle, shortly afterwards he had to leave the field in tears and apparently injured in the groin. Diogo Jota came on for him in the 33rd minute.
Salah’s reactions after the game give some hope. The 29-year-old posed for jubilant photos with Sadio Mané and “double” Thiago Alcantara, among others, after his colleagues won the title in a penalty-kick thriller. So maybe the injury isn’t that serious after all.
Virgil van Dijk was also replaced at the beginning of extra time, coach Jürgen Klopp commented on both personal details: “I think Salah’s case is a bit worse than Virgil’s. Van Dijk felt something and I think he’s fit for Paris again will be.” Salah himself replied with a “of course” when asked if he would be in the final.
That would be extremely important for Liverpool, after all, in addition to the aforementioned Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28th, there are also important league games for the Reds: on Tuesday in Southampton and on the following Sunday against Wolverhampton in the league, with the League Cup and FA Cup winners must hope for slip-ups from Manchester City.
