De Bruyne bored by opponent Wales

Kevin De Bruyne shone in Belgium’s 2-1 win over Wales but didn’t seem to get the full enjoyment.

A goal to make it 1-0 in the 10th minute, an assist to make it 2-0 in the 37th minute – and that pretty much settled the matter: Kevin De Bruyne, the linchpin of the deserved 2-1.

Kieffer Moore’s goal couldn’t change anything about Belgium’s home win over Wales in the Nations League, De Bruyne and Co. could be largely satisfied. That was not the midfield ace of Manchester City (92 caps).

Ten years, nine games

The 31-year-old expressed his frustration with the Red Devils’ schedule in an interview with The Telegraph. It bores him “always playing against the same teams” – “I think I played half of my international career against Wales,” complained De Bruyne. In fact, this encounter has taken place nine times in the last ten years alone.

On Sunday (8.45 p.m., LIVE! on kicker), the match winner of a game he had hardly felt like playing should be all the more motivated: In the last competitive game before the World Cup, the Belgians will play a neighborhood duel in the Netherlands.
