Alison dos Santos led most of the race. Already in the second barrier he was already doing the transposition before the other athletes in the race. At the height of the eighth barrier, the American Khallifah Rosser picked up the pace and entered the final stretch alongside Piu. In the final 50 meters, the Brazilian increased his pace to secure the victory with a time of 47.80, which is a new record for the meeting. Rosser was second with 48s30 and Frenchman Wilfred Happio was third with 48s74.

This is Alison’s fifth win in six Diamond League rounds this year. The Brazilian leads the diamond race with 40 points, 17 ahead of Estonian Rasmus Magi who is second with 23. Piu, Magi and Rosser (with 22 points) are already guaranteed in the Diamond League final to be played in a month in Zurich, Switzerland.
