Selke, Piatek, Plattenhardt: a trio is back

After a few personal setbacks, there was something pleasant on Tuesday afternoon: Hertha coach Pal Dardai welcomed a trio of returnees to the training field.

Returned to Hertha BSC training on Tuesday: Davie Selke, Krzysztof Piatek and Marvin Plattenhardt (from left to right).

Davie Selke as well as Krzysztof Piatek and Marvin Plattenhardt completely contested the approximately 75-minute unit. Selke broke his ribs two and a half weeks ago at the 5-0 draw in Munich. Plattenhardt had already failed with adductor problems before the guest appearance at the record champions. And the Polish international Piatek broke his ankle in the final spurt of the grueling preseason – in the 2-1 win at Schalke in mid-May – and therefore missed the European Championship in the summer. The attacker is back 125 days after his serious injury.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, captain Dedryck Boyata (stress control), Marton Dardai (ankle injury), Stevan Jovetic (calf injury) and Rune Jarstein (post-corona infection and heart muscle inflammation) trained individually. Boyata is also used in central defense against Fürth on Friday. With defender Dardai there is hope of a comeback for the game against the newly promoted team. Should he have to pass, Lucas Tousart would probably be the middle man between the central defenders Boyata and Niklas Stark.

Torunarigha is also still missing

On Tuesday morning, as expected, the club had communicated the week-long absence of Lukas Klünter, whose shoulder injury suffered at 3-1 in Bochum on Sunday requires an operation. Jordan Torunarigha had already signed off at the beginning of the week. The central defender had torn a muscle fiber in his thigh in Bochum.
