Richard Madeley leaves I’m a celebrity after being admitted to hospital

The TV presenter felt bad in the early hours of the morning and left the camp, meaning he is now unable to return due to Covid-19 restrictions.

In a statement, he said: “Hello everyone!

“Richard here – first just to say I’m absolutely fine.” I started to feel sick briefly in the early hours of the morning and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

“By leaving the camp I had therefore broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebrities who remain in the camp.

“Obviously, I’m sick of it to be leaving so early, but the safety of all campmates is number one priority. I’m incredibly excited to see their journey continue… especially at the thought of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but totally unforgettable adventure – I made great friends and honestly had a great time. “

An ITV spokesperson said in a statement: “Our strict Covid protocols mean that Richard unfortunately had to leave the show because he is no longer in the bubble that celebrities form upon entering the castle.

“He was a really brilliant campmate and we thank him for being a part of this series. “

The 65-year-old had been on the show’s Kitchen Nightmares trial before, and before taking on the challenge, he seemed well prepared for it.

He said: “I really hope I get voted for the trials.

“The thing about this program is that you don’t have to go for it if you take yourself seriously from a distance.

“I don’t and I can’t wait to be covered by God knows what.

“You have to be prepared for people to laugh and I see that as a hell of a lot of fun. “

For those who don’t know, Madeley is known to present Hello Great Britain this morning and talk show Richard et Judy.

He also hosted the ITV series Fortune: one million pounds sterling and replaced Chris Evans’ breakfast for BBC Radio 2.

This year’s celebrity lineup includes singer Frankie Bridge, host and ex-BBC breakfast Host Louise Minchin, Olympic Gold Medalist Matty Lee, Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy, Choreographer Dame Arlene Phillips, Music Producer Naughty Boy, Paralympic Gold Medalist Kadeena Cox, Football Legend David Ginola and Emmerdale star Danny Miller.
