PDI detains two other suspects for kidnapping, extortion and homicide in Iquique

PDI made two new arrests in the case of kidnapping, extortion and homicide in Iquique, and it is expected that on Friday they will deliver more details about the new arrests.

The Investigative Police (PDI) confirmed on Thursday night the arrest of two other suspects in the case of kidnapping, torture and murder against a 67-year-old man, registered in the commune of Iquique.

For now The police institution has not provided more details about these arrests, but it is expected that on Friday at 11:00, a press point will be held, where more information about this new procedure will be delivered.

These two arrests are in addition to that of a 24-year-old Venezuelan citizen, arrested on Wednesday afternoon, and who was in preventive detention this Thursday, after being accused of being accused of covering up the crimes of kidnapping, extortion and homicide.

After the arrest of the first subject, the PDI of Tarapacá indicated that they had identified some of those responsible for the crime that has shocked the northern region, informed the regional head of the civil police, Cristián Lobos.

“Through criminal analysis and police intelligence, the identity of those involved in the qualified kidnapping resulting in homicide was established, resulting in the arrest of one of them”, Lobos argued.

The incident occurred on Thursday of last week, when the victim (67) was kidnapped by a criminal gang near the Iquique market, a place where he circulated daily. Then they sent photographs to his family to demand a ransom.

According to an investigation by the Public Ministry, the extortionists asked the relatives to cross the border through Colchane and pay the sum of $ 50 million abroad to free the merchant.
