At Khalifa Stadium on Monday, two men dressed as knights and carrying the cross of Saint George were rejected before they could reach the stands. The English supporters looked like crusaders who fought Muslims in the Middle Ages and caused a number of atrocities.
This joke, or provocation, was obviously not well accepted by Qatar. The two individuals were asked to leave the premises, thus not being able to witness the victory of their colors over Iran (6-2).
Qatari authorities have started banning England fans from wearing crusader costumes in stadiums.
