Thor 5 will have to be a reimagining and different from Love & Thunder, says Chris Hemsworth

marvel star Chris Hemsworth think Thor 5 should be reinvented after the release of Thor: Love and Thunder. Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor explained that with the two Thor and Thor: The Dark World being of similar tone, followed by Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder and their similarities, a fifth outing should change things up yet again and perhaps leave the comedic styles behind.

“You look at Thor 1 and 2, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are similar. I think it’s about reinventing it. I had a unique opportunity with Infinity War and Endgame to do some very drastic things with the character. I like that, I like to keep people on their toes. It keeps me on my toes. It keeps me invested. I’ve said this before but when it gets too familiar, I think there’s a risk in getting lazy because I know what I’m doing. I don’t know if I’m even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity… [laughs] Thor lost his mind the latter. He must understand it now.

While Hemsworth says he’d like to change things up again to keep him on his toes, audiences will no doubt have different reasons for wanting things to be different if and when Thor 5 comes around. Director Taika Waititi Thor: Ragnarok was beloved by audiences and critics alike for its pronounced penchant for comedy, but that hasn’t been the case with the recent Thor: Love and Thunderwhich is now the second lowest MCU installment on Rotten Tomatoes.

So what do you think the franchise should do with Thor 5?

Whatever happens with Thor 5, Hemsworth recently said that this will likely be his last adventure as a Marvel superhero. “I feel like we should probably close the book if I ever do it again, you know what I mean? ” he said. “I feel like that probably justifies it. I feel like it would probably be the finale, but it’s not based on anything anyone told me or any plan. You have this birth of a hero, a hero’s journey, then a hero’s death, and I don’t know – am I at that point? Who knows? »

Awaiting further news regarding a potential fifth Thor release, Chris Hemsworth now plans to take a break from filming the Disney+ National Geographic series, Unlimited, which found the actor dealing with his own mortality. Undergoing genetic testing for the series, Hemsworth was told that he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene, which greatly increases the chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

“It’s not like I got my resignation,” Hemsworth said of his decision to take a break, adding that it “really triggered something in me to want to take some time off. Hemsworth will strive to take preventative action, saying, “If you look at preventing Alzheimer’s disease, the benefit of preventative action is that it affects the rest of your life,” he explained. . “It’s not a predeterministic gene, but it’s a powerful indication. Ten years ago, I think it was considered rather decisive. »

Chris Hemsworth still has several projects in the works, including the Netflix action movie sequel, Extraction 2and the upcoming Mad Max prequel, Furiosa.
